BIO

Savannah Bustillo (she/her) is a queer, second generation, Colombian-American printmaker, bookmaker, and papermaker from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She received a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, with a concentration in printmaking and a second major in anthropology. She combines making and anthropological investigation to explore spaces in the margins – where identities not easily reconciled with are placed.

Her work has been shown throughout the US, including the Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, NM, the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, Syracuse University, the Morgan Conservatory of Papermaking in Cleveland, the Bradbury Museum of Art, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Women’s Studio Workshop, the Freeport Art Museum, University of Texas, Arlington, University of North Florida, Purdue University, and at Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis, MN, where she was a 2021-2022 Jerome Early Career Printmaker Resident. In 2022 she received a 2022-2023 Next Step Grant through the Metropolitan Regional Art Council in Minneapolis. She teaches printmaking and book arts regularly at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, where she also was selected as a finalist for the 2022 MCBA Prize. Her work is held in numerous collections throughout the US, including the Bradbury Museum of Art, Harvard University, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the Walker Art Center.
