Savannah Bustillo is a printmaker, bookmaker, and papermaker from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She received a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, with a concentration in printmaking and a second major in anthropology. Her work speaks about the intersection of language and identity, drawing heavily from her Colombian heritage and her status as a first generation American. She combines making and anthropological investigation to explore spaces in the margins – where identities not easily reconciled with are placed. Through categories like marginalia and color(ism), Bustillo highlights where these types of knowledge are created and consumed. Her work has been shown at the Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Des Lee Gallery in St. Louis, Missouri, Washington University in St. Louis, Syracuse University, the Morgan Conservatory of Papermaking in Cleveland, Ohio, the Bradbury Museum in Arkansas, and most recently at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado.
